A good strategy is to grab a nugget or two with some fast units at the start of the game and hold them behind your tank without putting them in. As the rest of your units and the opposing units take the rest of the gold on the board, you'll be holding the only ones. If you have less than a 100 point disadvantage, you can put those nuggets in at the end of the game to prevent spawning of new nuggets near your opponent and ultimately, win the match.
