[edit] Rampaging Bull

I know how to get this badge i was just wondering

1.If you can earn it by playing ranked games in the hideout
2.If you can earn it by switching towns in between
3.If you can play unranked games in between
4.If the rounds count as a game like for example a 2 round game counts as 2/30
--XxMaddiexX

For #1-3, yes, you can; for #4, the badge is based on match wins, so you can lose a round in a multi-round match, so long as you place first overall. --Antimuon 20:24, 16 November 2007 (PST)

I have one more question that relates to question 2. Can you earn the badge by winning 30 ranked games in a row in Ft and itp for example you play 15 games in ft the 10 in itp then 5 in ft again?
--XxMaddiexX

Yes, you can --Santiaboy

[edit] General Questions

Should there be a section that provieds a general explanation of some questions such as...

- Does Wendigo attack deaths count against you in your units killed / units lost ratio?
- How do cooperative games impact your winning streak?
- Do kills in sacred forest count towards your kill count?

And such... Answers to the above would be greatly appreciated, but I think should be found on the wiki page too.

Also, as a random aside, would someone edit the descriptions such that between steamroller, rampaging bull, rodeo all-star, and legend that the language is the same. I spent quite a lot of time trying to figure out whether "winning 15 ranked matches in a row" meant the same thing as "have 15 consecutive ranked victories." In fact, I'm still not sure if they are intended to mean the same thing.

Maybe we can also standardize the use of the terms "match", "round", and "game" to address questions such as the rampaging bull one above as well.

In renpsonse to your questions, to the best of my knowledge, Wendigo Attack deaths to contribute towards units lost, coop games do not count against winning streaks, and kills in Forest Guardians do count toward total kills (I think that's what you meant). As for the match/round/game distinction, round and match are usually used correctly, but I'm sure there are some places that "game" is used to refer to match. If you find some instances of this, don't hesitate to correct them.

As for questions like these being answered on the badge page, it's possible, but it might be better if someone just put an "FAQ" section on this page, and kept it current with all the common inquiries. --Antimuon 08:31, 17 November 2007 (PST)

Wendigo Attack deaths don't count towards units lost. Cooperative games have no effect on winning streaks or any other win/loss data as there are no real winners or losers, the only reward for coming in ahead of other players is +$10 for each player you beat. Kills in FG don't count as unit kills and death don't count either. I would think this info would go under the scenario explanation but my opinion on such matter doesn't carry any weight.

[edit] Current Bugs

Sacred Tribe - only counts team survivals if at least 1 unit is dead and it respawns after the wendigo attack--Archer 08:31, 28 October 2007 (PDT)

Indian Chief - only awards if you have Frontier Boss--Archer 08:31, 28 October 2007 (PDT)

Down in yer Boots - only counts 4 player games--Archer 08:31, 28 October 2007 (PDT)

Um...The badges that you get for playing 100 games with x ITP bigshot don't say they unlock clothes...

I presume you refer to the badge page, and the explanation for such is two-part: first, the present in-game descriptions for these badges are rather long, and wouldn't look pretty on the table; second, the Voltaic badge has another function which is less obvious than the clothing unlock (makes lightning cards available), and thus more worth making mention of; for consistancy and neatness, it's easier to just let the clothing unlock be an unspoken, understood function of these badges. Also, the non-big shot use badge for each dud unlock makes mention of the necessity of both anyhow. --71.36.255.217 10:04, 20 January 2008 (PST)

[edit] New Badge Awards

I was able to confirm Twister for Old Codger and Avenging Spirit for Trickster Raven, can anyone confirm
Tactician - Gold Digger
Cavalry - Ring Toter
Storm Caller - Potlatch Chief
Revolutionary - Heart of Ice
--Archer 19:03, 21 October 2007 (PDT)

I can confirm all but the revolutionary (to see for yourself, go to the top ranked lists, find someone with the badge in question, and wave the mouse over it to see what it unlocks; I tried to confirm the Rev/Heart of Ice unlock in this way, too, but couldn't find anyone with the badge). --Antimuon 20:10, 21 October 2007 (PDT)

[edit] Indian Chief

I won 10 games with each of the ITP bosses and didn't get this. I suppose that coming in 1st in a coop game doesn't count. Have to continue testing. --Archer 21:17, 1 September 2007 (PDT)

I won 15 games with each of the ITP bosses in non-coop game, still no badge. Is the description wrong or is the badge bugged? --Archer 11:27, 2 September 2007 (PDT)

[edit] High Noon

I saw a noob with this badge. I think its just the companion badge to night owl for people on the other side of the world. --Archer 23:00, 31 August 2007 (PDT)

Last I heard, the description for this badge's requirements, as stated in the game files, was MYSTERY_ONE (or perhaps MYSTERY_TWO, I don't recall exactly), and the quantity was one. The description for Night Owl, on the other hand, is LATE_NIGHTS (again, last I heard), and the quantity, according to the research page, is ">5". From this information, I infer that High Noon is not the companion of Night Owl with different time specifications. My best guess is that High Noon does pertain to performing some action at a certain time (presumably noon, probably PDT), but, as the quantity is only one, it is probably rather difficult to achieve, thus explaining why it's still a relatively rare badge. The only more specific theory I've heard was on someone's poster and was to the effect of "play games from 12:58 to 1:00"; if he chanced to live in the Rocky Mountain Time Zone this would correlate to about noon PDT, but thats all I can deduce. --Antimuon 16:50, 22 October 2007 (PDT)

[edit] Bluffer

I thought this was taking cards and not using them but I've tested that tons and no results. --Archer 23:00, 31 August 2007 (PDT)

At the very least, I know from testing that taking 3 cards and winning without using any of them counts towards the badge. --AdventuresII 06:58, 1 September 2007 (PDT)
I'm testing the 3 cards and using none of them theory because I've won over 50 games taking 1 card and picking up other cards and using them with no badge. --Archer 21:17, 1 September 2007 (PDT)
Ok, testing complete, you have to have at least one card from your inventory and you can't use ANY cards during the round. Having 3 cards from your inventory isn't necessary but helps remind you not to pick up cards off the field and use them. Do we need someone to confirm or we updating the page off that?--Archer 22:29, 4 September 2007 (PDT)
After some (belated) testing of these reguirements, I'm beginning to wonder whether they are entirely accurate. To make counting easier I bought the Revolutionary, so in theory I should have gotten the Rebel badge within one game of the Bluffer badge, but it didn't occur as such; actually, I still havn't recieved Bluffer. The one thing that I can think of as responsible for this is the fact that I was playing two round games, so I wonder if the description should read 30 games, as opposed to 30 rounds. --Antimuon 16:50, 22 October 2007 (PDT)
The sheriffs post about multi round games not counting properly towards badges until the most recent patch.--Archer 09:29, 23 October 2007 (PDT)
That problem, though, was supposedly just for "scenerio specific statistics", which Bluffer requirements are not....Unless he used the term more generally to mean any of the more recently implemented statistics....At any rate, such problems should be fixed by now; maybe I'll try again. --Antimuon 20:11, 23 October 2007 (PDT)

[edit] Maverick

I'd guess this is taking 1 or more cards from inventory and using them in 250 winning matches. Needless to say, this takes a very very long time to test. --Archer 23:00, 14 September 2007 (PDT)

I read a forum post (by a more insider Howdypedian than myself, I believe) that stated the description for this in the game files was "pack card wins", so my guess is it's winning with cards from a pack (I don't know where I get these brainwaves). --Antimuon 20:11, 23 October 2007 (PDT)

Confirmed by buying a TON of lassos and using them every match.--Archer 08:31, 28 October 2007 (PDT)

[edit] Night Owl

Awarded when you play games at, around or during midnight PDT? for 5 consecutive days.--Archer 04:16, 22 July 2007 (PDT)

[edit] St. Nick

Playing on or around Christmas--Archer 04:16, 22 July 2007 (PDT)

[edit] New Sheriff in Town

I KNow For Shur,, YOu have to beat Someone Who is At top Ranked,, I know it For shur 100 %,

Heard from someone that they got from beating someone with a top 10 badge in any game. Need to test if they have to be on the current week's list, overall or have been awarded the badge at any time. --Archer 04:16, 22 July 2007 (PDT)

I acquired a top 10 badge, let an alt beat myself in a 2 person match and they didn't get the badge. I was on the last week's top 10 list. --Archer 16:26, 24 July 2007 (PDT)
Maybe you have to beat the player in the scenario he has the badge in but an overall badge would be any game??-EvilTree
I have beaten almost every top 10 renegade in town, who were also in weekly top 10 list and also lifetime. but i havent got this badge. ( Jenny Johnson )

My belief...because I had someone win it off me, is the NSIT is for breaking someone else's streak. For example, someone won NSIT off me after I had won 18 consecutive games. Not sure how long the streak has to be: I'd bet 10-15 games. It is definitely NOT the top 10 theory...I have beat many top 10's and dont have it. Moreover, I wasn't in a top 10 of anything when someone won it off me. (Nicodemus Whateley)

I can confirm that the badge is for streak breaking and I got it for breaking a 20 game streak. I will test a 5 game streak to see if that gives the badge and if it does then it will have been figured out. --Archer 12:12, 28 July 2007 (PDT)
It isn´t for streak breaking, i won it winning someone without the winning streak and without being on the top 10. --Santiaboy
You don't get it for breaking a 5 game streak. Did you ask them and they said they weren't on a winning streak? My guess is 15 game streak.
I just tested the "15 game streak" theory by getting an alt the steamroller badge and then beating said alt with another account, and did recieve the Sheriff badge. Though I didn't test a fourteen game winning streak, I did test ten (which didn't work), and OOO has tended to use more round numbers in the past, so I think it would be safe to add this info to the badge page. On a related note, should a notice be added as to what exactly constitutes a ranked game for badge requirements? In my experimentation I found that any time you make it to the "GO" the game counted toward badges, whereas only games that made it to the halfway mark (approximately; i didn't take time to establish an exact value, but it was in that vicinity, and half would make sense) affected the victor's rank. Such a notice might help clarify things like winning streaks and session games. At any rate, I won't edit the badge page yet, lest anyone have objections or other information. --199.120.100.168 01:37, 19 August 2007 (PDT)

Well, Finally i got this badge by winning against a rebel or lawbreaker, he wasnt on streak and neither in any top 10, i was in life time and also in weekly top 10. just sharing this info, it might help u guys figure it out. cheers. Jenny Johnson

1st: How can you be sure he wasn't on streak?
2nd: Could you have fulfilled the badge requirements in a previous game and just recieved the badge in the game you spoke of?
Additionally, I just repeated the experiment I described above--Alt A beats alt B 15 consecutive times to get the Steamroller badge, then gets beaten by alt C--and got the same results--the NSIT badge for alt C. All alts were tenderfoots in every respect, and had faced no other players they could have gotten the badge off of. I welcome feedback on this, but I'm convinced.--199.120.100.168 21:20, 23 August 2007 (PDT)

All we need to move from 99.9% to 100% sure the badge is awarded for a 15 game streak is for someone's alts to get to a 14 game streak and have an alt without NSIT break the 14 streak and see if they get the badge. I agree that it's very unlikely that 11-14 would be the streak required. --Archer 22:45, 23 August 2007 (PDT)

Done. Same thing as before, exept 14 wins instead of 15, and no badge! I think I'll take the liberty of editing the badge page.--199.120.100.168 19:48, 24 August 2007 (PDT)

[edit] Saloon Keeper

I believe that Inn Keeper is gained by getting 1000 people in your parlor

No its not, its recieved by hosting x amount of games-EvilTree

Hosting x games in your parlor, that is. I hope this clarifies the meaning of the word host. I seem to recall that people felt this was unclear, which would explain why the requirements remain unknown. There must be x games played in your parlor for you to receive this badge.24.25.143.47 21:36, 8 August 2007 (PDT)

Unless I'm sorely mistaken, the name of this badge is actually "Saloon Keeper". I've screenshots that show so anyhow, so I'll just go ahead and change it. --Antimuon 01:12, 13 August 2007 (PDT)

It must have been renamed within the last release or two; keep an eye out for any other discrepancies like this. —Emufarmers(T|C) 01:51, 13 August 2007 (PDT)

inn keeper is getting 20 people in your parlor thats how i got it and no one played any games in my parlor. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.36.76.98 (talkcontributions) on 11:39, 15 August 2007.

People played games in your parlor without you noticing. If you have a private parlor and play 50 games with your friends you will get this badge on the 50th match. I used a public parlor and earned it faster than just games I played. --Archer 05:43, 26 August 2007 (PDT)

[edit] Chat badges

i was just wondering if text in private chat counted towards the chat badges (chin wagger, jawbone, bent ear, etc.) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.14.220.208 (talkcontributions) on 16:42, 17 July 200.

Private Chat does count toward the talking and listening badges. - Shocking Saito
Also, private chat isn't rate limited to 4 messages every 10 seconds either --Archer 21:54, 26 July 2007 (PDT)

[edit] Past Bugs

In the past, there have been bugs which made certain badges easier, harder or even impossible to obtain.

  • For some time, Curmudgeon could not be obtained even when its requirements had been met, due to a typo. This has since then been fixed.
...and broken again. --Archer 04:09, 22 July 2007 (PDT)
  • For some time, Badman only required 500 kills instead of 5000 (this has since then been fixed). However, due to the way in which the requirements for Gunfighter and Killer work, it is possible for someone to possess Badman and have a kill ratio of over 1.5, and not receive Killer, simply because they haven't reached 5000 kills yet.

[edit] Brave, Soldier, Berserker

i tried to get berserker by plaaying a 3 round game where i shot units only with my big shot and it didnt work, later on, when i managed to get an ITP pass, i got the berserker bagdge in 1 round warpath game. (I received no badges the previous game) with these facts in mind, i believe that u can only get these 3 badges by scoring te consecutive kills in 1 round ONLY. ==Alpharalpha 13:30 26 January 2008 (PDT)
