[edit] 2006-05-08

From the Release Notes:
  • We're through the woods on the animation revamp. This means that the whole game is about 10 megs smaller, should take up a bit less memory and hopefully the issues with long load times getting into the games are now a distant memory. Definitely let us know if you have problems with long load times or things not working that used to work.
  • More idle animations for the units. There are some cosmetic issues with some of the animations but we wanted to get the new system out the door and start testing it as we're only a couple of weeks from open beta. Sorry about the Cavalry Horse's leg, it freaks me out when I see it too.
  • Back Parlors are here! You can now hang out and chat with yer pardners, and create games with a bit more control over the options. Soon we'll add support to the Back Parlors for playing games on boards that you made yourself using the board editor. Note: games played in the Back Parlors are not rated and don't count toward yer stats. By making ratings and stats only count when you're playing against a randomly assigned opponent, we can dramatically reduce the possibility of people collaborating to game the ratings/stats and make them more meaningful and exciting.
  • User interface sound effects are in place. This aught to liven things up a bit as yer clickin' buttons and chatting and whatnot.
  • Top 10 lists! Now you can see how ya stack up against the other cowpokes. (Note: these are currently a little booched, but I'm going to fix that ASAP.)
  • Finished up the Cattle Rustling and Gold Rush tutorials which will be useful as we bring in new players.

[edit] 2006-04-18

From the Release Notes:
  • Music! We've got some great tunes from the guys at Somatone who are doing our music and SFX.
  • Gold Rush gameplay scenario! No tutorial yet, but it's like Claim Jumping except that nuggets spawn around the board and you can't steal nuggets from other players' claims. We'll get some boards that are custom made for Gold Rush up a little later and emphasize the different possibilities with that scenario, but for now you can play on most of the existing boards.
  • Another new bonus: Iron Plate - makes the unit invincible for seven turns.
  • Fixed broken sound effects. Now you can hear 'em.
  • Fixed various broken boards which were too small.

[edit] 2006-04-14

From the Release Notes:
  • A new bonus: "Hollow Point Bullets" increases the attack strength of the activating unit by 30%.
  • Another new bonus: "Lucky Horseshoe" gives the activating unit a 50% chance of doing 2x damage when it shoots.
  • A new card: "Giddy Up" allows a unit to be moved again immediately.
  • Implemented tooltips which explain many things in the interface and in the game (like the Badges), hold down Control to make them pop up immediately or hover the mouse over them like in a normal UI.
  • Updated the sound effects and added some new effects. Music is coming soon.
  • Added packs of three cards for sale in the General Store. Not all cards will be available in packs of three.
  • Added an idle animation for the Gunslinger; others coming soon.
  • Various bug fixes and other tidying up.
