A player becomes idle when they have not interacted with the client for a period of about eight minutes. When a player is idle, they are automatically logged off from Bang! Howdy, and are required to restart the client to log back on.

In a gang suituation, a player becomes inactive and 'greyed' out on the Gang roster. This happens after X days
