Howdypedia:Image tags

From Howdypedia, the Bang! Howdy wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Images on Howdypedia must be tagged to help adhere to copyright laws and identify free material for use.

Here are some image tagging guidelines and rules of thumb:

  • All images should include a descriptive summary or an image tag.
    • Please tag images on the image description page with one of the tags below so we can keep track of its status. The tags should be put on a line of their own.
  • When marking an image as one of the vaguer categories (such as {{ooo image}}), try to describe the source of the file or its reason for being here.
  • If multiple categories apply to an image, add all that apply.
  • Along with a tag, specify the source or copyright holder information (if the image is a screenshot taken in-game, this step can be omitted). Provide as much detail as possible.
  • Please put more thought to the file naming of images as well—check the Image list to see if a naming scheme is already in place for the type of image you are uploading.
  • Finally, scroll down to see the whole set of tagging options.

Tagging options

Each image tag takes the form of a template, a short snippet of text that causes an informational box to be displayed on the page under your image and automatically adds appropriate categories to your image. Follow the usage link for each template for complete instructions for that particular image tag.

Category:Image tags contains more image tags than those listed below; some are deprecated, others are too specific to mention here.

For image creators

  • {{PD image|username}} — If you are want to release an image you created into the public domain, use this tag.

Game images

For screenshots taken from inside the game client or using a Three Rings program such as the Bang! Howdy Editor or the Three Rings Model Viewer, or for those extracted directly from the game files, use Template:Bh image as follows:

{{Bh image|Argument}}

The following arguments can be used:

  • unit — for images of units;
  • bonus — for images of bonuses;
  • inventory — for images of items as they appear in the inventory;
    • badge — for images of badges;
    • card — for images of cards;
    • duds — for images of duds;
      • hat — for images of hats;
      • clothing — for images of clothing;
      • paint — for images of face paint patterns;
      • gear — for images of gear;
      • familiar — for images of familiars;
  • aspect — for images of aspects;
    • head — for images of head shapes;
    • hair — for images of hair styles;
    • eyebrows — for images of eyebrows;
    • eyes — for images of eyes;
    • nose — for images of noses;
    • mouth — for images of mouths;
    • mustache — for images of mustaches;
    • beard — for images of beards;
  • outlaw — for images of outlaws;
  • interface — for images of the graphical user interface;
  • buckle — for images that show a buckle or a component of one.

When no argument is specified, the template defaults to a general Bang! Howdy image template. The most specific tag available is generally preferred.

Other images

  • {{Ooo image}} — This template should be used for any image that is not Bang! Howdy-related, but is still copyright Three Rings.
