The Dog Soldier is a powerful melee unit in his own right, but he also deals seven damage to adjacent enemy ground units every tick. He is also immune to the Dream Catcher's tick-reset ability.

The Dog Soldier can be unlocked either by killing 10 human-controlled enemy units with a single unit in one round, without that unit dying, or by buying the Tomahawk at the Indian Trading Post general store.

[edit] Strategy

Although the dog soldier has a weak defense against many units and cannot attack air units, he can be extremely useful. Place him next to a Totem Base and let him attack enemy pieces every turn, or Place him on a glyph in Wendigo Attack and let him weaken enemies whilst they are avoiding the Wendigo. The Dog Soldier's ability also makes him a boon on maps that bunch players' units together in narrow spaces, allowing for a large amount of collateral damage.

[edit] Historical Notes

Prior to the March 6th release, the Dog Soldier dealt five damage every tick to adjacent units, instead of seven.
