Artillery
Frontier Town unit

Make: Steam

Mode: Range

Move: 2

Shoot: 2-5

Initiative: 1

Description
He does a powerful lot of damage, but cannot hit air units.
Details
The Artillery is a slow mover but he makes up for it with range and power. He's a great asset for defense as he can frequently take out enemy units before they get close enough to cause any trouble. Watch out for Air units though because his shells can't hit 'em. Set him up with a Ramblin' bonus or Lucky Horseshoe and things really start to get interesting.

The Artillery can attack at long range, dealing a large amount of damage in a single shot. Its biggest drawback is its limited movement range; only being able to move two squares a turn renders it nearly useless in many scenarios. However, its long range attack and powerful punch make it ideal for defending one's claim in Claim Jumping.

The Artillery cannot attack air units, nor can it directly attack the Tactician, who repels the attack to one of the four squares adjacent to itself. It is possible for a Tactician to repel it onto another Tactician.

[edit] Strategy

Tactics with the artillery involve:

  • Setting him up with a Ramblin' card to boost his movement range,
  • Using a Lucky Horseshoe card (currently the most common strategy in-game), giving him a 50% chance to one shot almost every unit in-game,
  • In Forest Guardians giving the Artillery the Bear Fetish will allow him to kill all robots (except super robots) in one shot.
  • Using a Hustle card boosts the defensive capability of the Artillery considerably.
